it's that time of year again
Good news:
-- My Atlantis holiday story is done!
-- My finals are over!
-- I have downloaded Grace Under Pressure and am preparing to watch!

Bad news:
-- My popslash holiday story is not done, and in fact sucks and is ruining my life!
-- I am ruining Christmas with my inexplicable desire to spread joy over the course of an *entire holiday season* rather than welding it specifically to an ahistorical and politically selected date!
-- I am out of money, and my new student loan check has yet to come in! Begging loans from my parents is zero fun!

Ambiguous news:
-- I am thirty years old, in spite of the fact that I am convinced that I am LYING every time I say it. I checked my driver's licence twice and grilled my mother thoroughly, and it does appear to be true. Am baffled by this. Some of those years may or may not have been stolen from me and lived by somebody else; still checking into that. Still hope to be as hot as Marg Helgenberger or Kylie Minogue when I grow up, but as of this morning, few if any signs of that. Nonetheless, I remain reasonably mellow about this event.

And happy birthday!

You going to be back in Missouri any over the holidays?

heck, yeah! I'll be coming into town on Monday, and I'll be there for about a week. You'll be sick of me by the time I'm gone again. *g*

Happy birthday, baby! I'm confident your story doesn't suck at all (or, if it does, it's in the positive, life-affirming way).

Oh, it really, really does. I mean, I'm confident that someday soon it will not suck, but now? Yes, it does. *g*

However, I am older and wiser than I was yesterday, so maybe things have turned around!

Happy birthday and the thirty thing gets more credible by the time you get into it.

Good! Because the missing-time thing is cool, in a season 1 X-Files kind of way, but also disorienting. *g*

Thank you! It started out with an 8 a.m. final, so I'm pretty much assuming it's all upward from here *g*

Thank you! And I had no idea you lived here until just recently, when Mary was making out her Christmas cards. You should come over and play with us sometime! We have much sparkly footage.... *shakes the sparklies enticingly to lure you out from under the bed*

Totally! Sometime in January perhaps, and I'll even wear my pink sparkly NSYNC backpack, which I am too embarrassed to wear in this town otherwise. Actually, long ago I meant to mention to you that we live nearby each other, but I was afraid it sounded slightly stalkerish. But then again, what about this fandom isn't?

I am thirty years old, in spite of the fact that I am convinced that I am LYING every time I say it.

Congratulations on three successful (or at least, non-lethal) decades!

From the time I was 17 until I was about 30, I thought I was 17. I mean, if someone asked me my age and I didn't think about it, I'd tell them I was 17. Embarrassing. Especially since my 20s were a lot more fun than my teens. (My 30s were better, and I hope yours will be too!)

Thank you! Still here with all the original parts, so I guess it's been as successful as I would have hoped *g*

I'm getting my age right when asked so far, but I still have that urge to recheck the math every time. *g* I hear good things about this decade, though, so I'm ready.

Happy birthday! I can't believe anyone who has a mere thirty years on this planet can write as beautifully as you do (though if time alone equaled talent, I'd be a much more impressive figure than I am . . . )

I hope you don't mind that on your birthday I gave your writing as a present to my flist. So if some strangers show up in your comments thread (unlikely, since it's a pretty short flist, and the TS readers on it no doubt already know of you) . . . that might be why. Thank you again for all your wonderful work, especially "Lexicon"--I read it yet again last night, and it continues to be, in my judgment, an absolutely perfect story in every way.

Thank you! And thank you so much for what you wrote in your lj -- that was very touching and exciting! It's always so fascinating to know what the standout stories are for people, and of course it's just great to be reminded (after eight years of ticky-typing away in the relative privacy of my living room) that there are real people out there who really read these things and like them! *g* It really is an honor.
